Many people define themselves by external circumstances. When these abruptly or unexpectedly change, they don’t know who they are, so they keep trying to be who they used to be.

From now on, take your cues from the inside — from your dreams, ideals, values, and operating principles.

These need never change, regardless of the circumstances.

Take advantage of external confusion to become self-directed, self-managed, and self-motivated.

But in all that’s going on, be sure and don’t become so self-absorbed and self-focused that you forget about others. We are all in this together. Reach out and help others whether it be through a phone call, pay for someone’s coffee in the car behind you, grocery shop for the elderly who are shut in and scared, or any number of things. Be the best person you can be by giving to others.

At Confidence Coach we offer business owners a place to reconnect and rebuild their confidence; which leads to their better future in the days and years ahead. Reach out today and schedule a free call if you’d like to talk. Let us help you make progress.

Recently I’ve been doing coaching workshops at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club which is where Tiger Woods won the U.S. Amateur in 1996. The Tiger Den is a room filled with spectacular pictures and memories of Tiger in action. As I look around this meeting room, one of the things that stands out to me is the amount of focus that Tiger had in his career to get to where he was at such a young age.

The idea I want you to think about today is — what is your focus in your business? Do you have a bunch of distractions that are keeping you from the focus that you need in order to achieve the results you want from your business?

If so, what are those distractions? Be aware and conscious of them so you can eliminate them.

What is taking you away from the focus of what you really need to do that makes money for you in your business?

Ask yourself these questions to give you focus:

  • What creates value?
  • Where do you want to go with your business and what will help you get there?
  • Name two or three things that you need to really focus on to grow your business this next year.

I challenge you to begin to eliminate all the things from your work or business activity, your leadership, and/or your company that really aren’t productive to making money for you or creating value for the company. We all have choices of how we react or respond to situations. This is a choice you can make now.

Focus on what works.

Stay focused on the two or three things that will get you the desired results you want — just like Tiger did.

Tiger focused on his short game, his long game, and his driving. He practiced these things consistently and kept at it. Golf was his sport. Tiger wasn’t out there competing or being seriously involved in other sports or activities. His main focus was this one arena, and the rest is history.

As I’ve said before — think about your thinking. Stay focused on what really matters most in your business and eliminate (or delegate) the rest. Schedule a free consultation if you need help narrowing down what you need to focus on to be successful.
