Here’s an interesting thought by Byron Katie. She has an idea which takes the massive dreams, goals and aspirations we have for our business, our life, and our relationships and breaks it down to a very simple interesting thought which I have taken the challenge of, and I hope you will too. We can journey on this together because accomplishing your biggest hopes and dreams in your life and business are wrapped up in this statement.

“You can have anything you want in life if you’re willing to ask 1,000 people.”

Because of the experience with our clients and their employees using the Dream Employee program, I would change her saying a little bit. The second one that I came up with (and a lot of people have said this as well, maybe just a little differently) is:

“You can have all of your dreams and goals in your life if you’re willing to help 1,000 people achieve their dreams and goals in their life.”

I think these two statements can reframe the big goals and dreams you have for the next 5, 10, 15, even 25 years into bite size steps you can take.

How does that fit into you achieving your 10 year goal?

These two mindsets or ways of approaching goals, dreams and aspirations are incredibly powerful!

Let me challenge you to apply them as well. Send me an email with your thoughts and share your results. How are you going to apply these two mindsets to your life and your business going forward? Reach out today and schedule a free call if you’d like to talk. We are here to help you make progress towards your own goals and dreams.

Something happened to me recently as I started my day out — I had some setbacks and obstacles, and I just felt really defeated.

You might think I’m supposed to be exempt from these things because…I’m a coach; I’m supposed to be an encourager; I’m supposed to be somebody that’s winning!

Instead, that day I just felt like I was sliding down a hill. I felt and acted like I was defeated. I wasn’t taking the actions that I should. The good thing is I didn’t stay here in this place and let defeat win.

Here’s a couple of tips that should help you out when you have a day like I did. Don’t let defeat take you out!

First of all, get clear about what is happening in your situation. Instead of wallowing in your defeat, take ahold of it and turn it into a learning experience. By doing this, you can turn it into a win!

You might ask how can you do this?

Change your mindset.

Instead of just staying in that defeated mentality, take action by asking yourself these questions:  What is this thing that is defeating me? What’s making me feel like I can’t achieve today? What’s preventing me from making forward progress?

Identify what that challenge or problem is.

Put that problem that’s defeating you on the sidelines. Then ask yourself what are the things right now or today that I can do that can get me back into winning. What can I do to move forward, feel better about the situation or help me feel like I’m making progress? Don’t let defeat keep you down.

Wrestle defeat to the ground.

You can do this by putting it aside and saying the pity party is over. I refuse to feel defeated. Game over! That match is finished!

Focus on learning which leads to winning.

With defeat set aside, focus back on the things that are going to bring you into a learning mode. Learn from your situation and from there you can move on to winning for the day.

Hopefully this will help you realize that you don’t need to stay down in that defeated state. You can overcome defeat and turn it into a lesson of learning and then move forward to the winning stage.

I know that as an entrepreneur, business owner and leader this is something you deal with all the time but nobody really wants to talk about it. We all have challenges and can feel defeated at times.

But the key is to not stay there. Get clear about what the problem is. What is it that is defeating you? Why do you feel defeated? What is going on and/or what’s happening? Then, change your mindset and move on to do something counterintuitive to that problem or challenge. You will then be learning from your situation and winning in the long run!

We’d love to hear your story of how you’ve turned a defeated situation into a win! Send us an email and tell us about it.

Today I just wanted to talk a little bit about the power of your mindset as a business owner, entrepreneur, CEO or leader. One of the things I want you to stop and think about for a minute as you’re leading, managing, going about your business is:

  • What are you focusing on when it comes to your business?
  • Are you focusing on what isn’t working and what the problems are?
  • Or, are you focusing on what is working and what you can build on?

And what I mean by that is:  what we focus on, what we put our mental energy into, our emotional energy or thoughts into really becomes what the result is down the road. Sometimes you don’t realize that and you are asking yourself “how did we end up where we ended up a year ago?”

Well, where you ended up and where that all started was in your mindset, your thinking or what you’ve focused on. Remember to get clear about what the result is that you want in your business in this next year, and then focus intentionally daily on your decisions, your choices, the way you talk about your business, the way you interact with your business with that result in mind.

Don’t focus on what you don’t want, but focus on what you do want the business to manifest. Focus on the result that you want to get from the business. Whether that’s a financial return or a new product launch, maybe it’s a new store to be opened up, or whether or not to go online. It could be a myriad of things. But think about what your mental focus is, your mindset, the amount of energy that is going into what you want.

Because I think what you’ll find is if you really take inventory, a lot of us spend a lot of time on thinking about things or have a mindset focused on what we don’t want.

We need to turn that faucet off. Turn on the faucet of what you do want, what you want in the future, and thinking in your mindset around that as you go through the day in your business.

So, once again, thanks for reading. We’re at confidencecoach.org. Subscribe to our YouTube channel too. We’d love to talk to you about your mindset. And if you’d like some coaching, reach out to us for a catalytic conversation. Thanks.
