Fear is a feeling; it is not a fact.

Just a thought for you today.

I’ve been noticing two different things with people.

Number one, people that seem to be controlled or manipulated by fear are people that are watching an inordinate amount of news.

And, the second thing I’m noticing is that people that have this fear are business people that are more concerned about their competition than they are about what they’re doing in their own business.

At this time, remember this fear is a feeling.

Let me restate that again:  fear is a feeling.

It is not a fact.

Be careful and be intentional about what you watch, what you listen to, who you follow, and how you’re investing your time.

Invest in things that are factual.

Instead of focusing on your losses, I want you to focus on the opportunities that are going to come out of these circumstances. As we navigate the days of COVID-19, there are many things that you had (or may have taken for granted) that have disappeared. Some people may never get over this because they keep trying to replay their old games. Don’t be that person.

A better strategy would be to start an entirely new game — using new ideas, new energies, new tools, and new resources. In history, some of our best inventions and creative ideas happened in the most dire situations.

This is such a time. Use your time and God-given abilities to create that new invention, creative solution, or new idea. It is a time to take a look at those dreams you had and pivot or adapt them so that you will be in a better place when we come out of this COVID-19 pandemic. Let this be a time to really soul-search and dig deep and reveal where the new opportunities are that lie ahead. There is going to be a time when we look back and see some of the best and most creative ideas and opportunities were invented during this situation.

Let’s also be thankful for the people who created all the ways we are using to stay in touch these days (e.g. Zoom, FaceTime, Skype, texting, email).

As the world changes, opportunities suddenly become available to achieve far more than you ever did in the past.

At Confidence Coach we offer business owners a place to reconnect and rebuild their confidence; which leads to their better future in the days and years ahead. Reach out today and schedule a free call if you’d like to talk.

Recently I’ve been doing coaching workshops at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club which is where Tiger Woods won the U.S. Amateur in 1996. The Tiger Den is a room filled with spectacular pictures and memories of Tiger in action. As I look around this meeting room, one of the things that stands out to me is the amount of focus that Tiger had in his career to get to where he was at such a young age.

The idea I want you to think about today is — what is your focus in your business? Do you have a bunch of distractions that are keeping you from the focus that you need in order to achieve the results you want from your business?

If so, what are those distractions? Be aware and conscious of them so you can eliminate them.

What is taking you away from the focus of what you really need to do that makes money for you in your business?

Ask yourself these questions to give you focus:

  • What creates value?
  • Where do you want to go with your business and what will help you get there?
  • Name two or three things that you need to really focus on to grow your business this next year.

I challenge you to begin to eliminate all the things from your work or business activity, your leadership, and/or your company that really aren’t productive to making money for you or creating value for the company. We all have choices of how we react or respond to situations. This is a choice you can make now.

Focus on what works.

Stay focused on the two or three things that will get you the desired results you want — just like Tiger did.

Tiger focused on his short game, his long game, and his driving. He practiced these things consistently and kept at it. Golf was his sport. Tiger wasn’t out there competing or being seriously involved in other sports or activities. His main focus was this one arena, and the rest is history.

As I’ve said before — think about your thinking. Stay focused on what really matters most in your business and eliminate (or delegate) the rest. Schedule a free consultation if you need help narrowing down what you need to focus on to be successful.

It’s hard to believe that we are almost to the end of the year. Thanksgiving has come and gone and we are already in December.

Have you looked back over the past year and evaluated what happened — both the good and the bad? Now is a good time to do an After Action Review of 2019. We usually do an after action review for events, presentations, hires, meetings, etc. However, today I want you to look back over the year and see what you come up with in regards to your business. Ask yourself these questions.

  1. What went right?
  2. What worked well? Were there things that stood out to you or maybe you got feedback on?
  3. What needs improving?
  4. What did you learn?
  5. What was the biggest take away?
  6. How can you make 2020 the best year ever?

Just a little food for thought as you head into 2020. If you’d like help in reviewing what went right, what went wrong and how you can improve on and make 2020 your best year schedule a free consultation now.
