People ask me all the time about being a coach.
What’s it like?
When did I start doing this?
What prepared me for coaching?
Who do I serve?
Well, being a coach really is about leadership.
Now that I’m 60, I’ve realized the great value, and the wisdom and the insight of living 60 years.
— All the experiences I’ve had
–All the things I’ve learned
–All of the books I’ve read
–All of the people I’ve met
–All the conversations I’ve had
And I realize now the power of all these things as I work with people.
Oftentimes, the remark I get from people is “You’re like the father; I never had this before.”
So it’s about trust. It’s about transparency. It’s about listening and learning. It’s about asking the question that brings wisdom to the situation.
It’s about 60 years of journeying and seeking and stretching to get better, to learn more, to be wiser, to be about what’s best for the other person and their life.
Above all, it’s about believing in them that their best future is ahead.
I’m a father and that is a great role.
