I’ve a very short statement for you today. I’d love to hear your thoughts about it and whether or not you believe this is true.

Our deepest desire in life is to find somebody who will make us do what we can do.

Let me know if you believe that’s true, or what that means to you.

This is my actual job description as a coach.

Instead of thinking about what you want to become or who you want to be like — think about who you want to become. Then start making choices, habits, decisions, thinking and triggers that help you become who you want to become.

Let’s say you want to become a better leader in your business. Then start being, acting, and choosing to be like a leader.

Let’s say that you want to be a writer. Then start writing every day for five minutes.

Let’s say that you want to be a better father or a mother. Then act like one.

Act like what you want to become and who you want to be.

If you want to be a hero, then act like a hero.

Over time if you develop these new actions and habits, then the way you think and act will automatically appear in your life.

So think about the question of who you want to become and then start to act like it. Start to think like it. Start to make choices around the person you want to become in order to be where you want to be three years from today.

At Confidence Coach we are here to offer business owners a place to reconnect and rebuild their confidence; which leads to their better future in the days and years ahead. Reach out today and schedule a free call if you’d like to talk. We are here to help and encourage you.

In helping people find their best way forward, I have been asking them these questions to really get them to think and process where they are at during this time. Here are those questions for you to ponder and think about too.

What if everything that has been happening in the last six months was to teach us and make us stronger?

What if it was to make you and me focus on what’s truly important?

How do I switch from seeing these things with my own eyes to seeing it with the eyes of my customers?

All the challenges that we have gone through lately are going to make us better leaders and help create a clearer vision for our business and our team.

The questions again in a little more detail are:

  1. What if this is happening for us?
  2. What does this make possible?
  3. What if this is actually meant to strengthen us as a company and you as a person?
  4. When was the last time you identified your why? Why are you here? Why are you doing this work?
  5. When was the last time you let your “why” dictate the way forward as you did your work?

We know this — when you’ve lost your way, go back and deeply connect with your big why. Then, watch everything make sense again and get clarity.

If you’d like help in figuring out your “why” again and the best way forward, reach out to us and schedule a free consultation. At Confidence Coach we are here to offer business owners a place to connect, build their confidence and a better future.

As a leader, here are some questions you should be asking your team members on a regular (or even daily) basis to lead them in the right direction. These questions will promote a positive focus that your team needs from you during these difficult times. When you lead with enthusiasm and a positive attitude, it helps propel everyone forward in that direction too. You set the tone.

  1. What’s going right?
  2. What’s working?
  3. What can we build on?
  4. What’s possible now?
  5. What is the seed of opportunity in this difficult time?
  6. What are your wins today?
  7. What have you learned today that you can apply tomorrow?

At Confidence Coach, we focus on the positive and want to help you do the same. If you need help in leading and encouraging your team, reach out to us. I wrote an article some time ago called Start Your Meetings with Wins. This is a great example of how to lead your team. We’ve got plenty more examples where that came from. So, if you’d like some help, go ahead and schedule a free consultation now.

A while ago Angela Perkins of Xenium HR asked me if I would share my “Seven Strategies for Difficult Times” in a webinar which I recently did. Brandon Laws did an excellent job moderating and it was really a fun time. I hope the information shared in the webinar will benefit you so I’m giving you the link here so that you can listen at your leisure. These seven strategies can help you maneuver through these difficult times we have been facing over the past few months. Here are the seven areas I spoke on:

  1. Take your eyes off yourself
  2. Focus on your relationships
  3. Focus on creating value
  4. Focus on your opportunities
  5. Focus on your progress today
  6. Focus on who you can be and how you respond
  7. Focus on what’s available and be grateful

At Confidence Coach we are here to offer business owners a place to reconnect and rebuild their confidence; which leads to their better future in the days and years ahead. Reach out today and schedule a free call if you’d like to talk. We are here to help and encourage you.

People ask me all the time about being a coach.

What’s it like?

When did I start doing this?

What prepared me for coaching?

Who do I serve?

Well, being a coach really is about leadership.

Now that I’m 60, I’ve realized the great value, and the wisdom and the insight of living 60 years.

— All the experiences I’ve had

–All the things I’ve learned

–All of the books I’ve read

–All of the people I’ve met

–All the conversations I’ve had

And I realize now the power of all these things as I work with people.

Oftentimes, the remark I get from people is “You’re like the father; I never had this before.”

So it’s about trust. It’s about transparency. It’s about listening and learning. It’s about asking the question that brings wisdom to the situation.

It’s about 60 years of journeying and seeking and stretching to get better, to learn more, to be wiser, to be about what’s best for the other person and their life.

Above all, it’s about believing in them that their best future is ahead.

I’m a father and that is a great role.

If you need help, someone to hold you accountable or to ask you those tough questions, that’s what we do at Confidence Coach. Reach out and schedule a free consultation today.

What are you hiding from in your business that is a small problem now?

There’s a chance that if  you don’t deal with this small problem today it will grow into a huge problem tomorrow.

And, this could jeopardize the future of your business a year from now as a business owner.

You often times know about these problems, but because of these three things:

  • you don’t have a boss;
  • nobody is holding you accountable; and
  • you don’t have somebody that is asking you the difficult questions

— you hide from these problem areas that are in your business (whether it be problems with your employees, customers or vendors or something entirely different).

My thought to you today is to stop doing that.

My challenge to you is to quit hiding and to take the first step towards tackling that challenge in your business.

If you need help, someone to hold you accountable or to ask you those tough questions, that’s what we do at Confidence Coach. Reach out and schedule a free consultation today.

During this pandemic season many things have changed and/or shifted in our lives, including some of our goals. Maybe it just hasn’t been possible to pursue them or they are now obsolete.

Just because your goals may have changed, the vision for your life doesn’t have to.

I want you to review each of your goals but instead of asking yourself “Can I still achieve this?”, reconnect with your why. Review your top three reasons why you chose that goal and ask:

  • What am I really trying to accomplish here?
  • What’s my motivation?

It’s absolutely true that some of our goals may not survive, but the vision for your life will. Go back and get in touch with your Why. When you do this, you will find new ways to achieve your vision and the way forward will reveal itself!

When you think you have lost your Way, go back and deeply connect with your Big Why!!!

We have been working with business owners to help them create a clear written vision for their future which can help them discern between opportunities and distractions. Vision is an act of seeing what the future could be, then articulating that potential in an inspiring, clear, practical and attractive way. As a leader, you can create a compelling vision and engage others around it. If you’d like help doing this for yourself and your business, reach out today and schedule a free call. We’d love to help you reconnect with your why and create a clear vision for the future.

There’s a coaching exercise that we call The Clarity Solution which helps you understand why and how you do what you do. It can also help you analyze why this is important to you. Because sometimes as owners, we forget the big stuff like this or don’t touch base with it. We can then start to drift one way or another and get off track. So with this process, people get refocused and it brings them back to who they really are and what they truly believe.

I was at a conference a couple of years ago and a gentleman speaking said this: “Love me or hate me; there’s no money in the middle.” A lot of business owners think they have to try to satisfy or help everybody. They are trying to be everything to everybody; that never works. It’s always a recipe for disaster. If someone is struggling with this, we use The Clarity Solution to bring them back into focus and ask them what it is that they really believe; what is it that they’re really doing; and who they’re really serving, both in their customers and employees.

CLARITY QUESTIONS – Ask yourself these questions:

  1. What do you stand for? What do you stand for as a business owner, CEO, solo entrepreneur or whatever you are? What do you really stand for in your business and yourself? What is that? Get clear about it.
  2. What do you believe? So what do you believe about what you do in the marketplace? What do you believe about the value you bring? What do you believe about your team (if you have a team)? What do you believe about your employees, the company, that type of thing?
  3. What is the first priority for you in your business? What is the number one thing? Sometimes we’ve forgotten what that is, so it’s important to touch base with that again.
  4. How do you go about making decisions in your business? Do you actually have a process that you go through to make decisions or are you just doing it randomly with intuition or on the fly? This question has helped a lot of people to develop a process for making great decisions for their business and their companies.
  5. How do you connect with people now? How do you connect with your employees first and then how do you connect with your customers second? Are you doing this in a systematic way? So once again we’ll bring that into focus.
  6. What are some good connection points that you haven’t been taking advantage of that you could with your employees and with your customers?

These are just some checkup points that create value for people. When you think about these things and answer the questions, you can then put things back into your business that you may have forgotten or add new things to give more focus and and clarity about what you believe. This will help you remember what you stand for and figure out who’s important to you. Once you’ve figured these things out and gotten focused again, it’s amazing how the results come back to your business in the way of increased revenue for you and value that you create for your clients.

Thanks for your time today and make it a great day. Reach out to us at confidencecoach.org/contact. We love hearing from you.

Well, it’s November already and I’m here to talk to you about 2019. Have you ever heard the expression “shoot for the stars”? What happens if you shoot for the stars and miss them? Have you already set goals yet for 2019 for your business and your personal life?

I want to throw a challenge out to you. I want you to think about your goals (what you’ve got either rattling around in your head or maybe you’ve already written them out), and I want you to think about setting them much HIGHER for 2019 than you had first thought about.

Why, you ask?  Because, if we shoot for the stars and we miss them, we still accomplish a pretty amazing thing. So, my challenge to you is to think about your goals. If you have them written down, revise them, set them higher, double them, triple them, 10x them, and then see what that does for your thinking and your creativity. See what that does for your inspiration as you look at 2019 as being the Best Year in your business and your personal life. 2019 can be the year you will accomplish more than you have ever accomplished, but only by stretching yourself and reaching for the stars. It will be exciting to see where you end up. It’s going to surprise you, and it’s going make 2019 an amazing year.

Make it a great day.
