I just wanted to tell you that it’s gonna be okay! Part of my belief in that is a matter of perspective. We may not return to our original normal but we will have a new normal.

Here are some questions to get you thinking and to check where your perspective is:

  • Is what you’re thinking about leading you to peace, life and a better future?
  • Or is your thinking leading you to more doubt, more fear, and more uncertainty?
  • What did you learn during this season that you want to keep doing in your business?
  • What did you learn that you are going to omit or get rid of?

You need to be aware of what you are thinking, watching and talking about. You get to choose your perspective of how and what you think about.

There’s a story about two salesmen who went to Africa a hundred years ago. When the first one arrived on the continent, he sent back a telegram to the home office. “Coming home on next ship. No one here wears shoes.”

When the second salesman arrived on the continent, he also sent a telegram to his home office. “Send all the inventory you can. No one here wears shoes. Huge market!”

You and I get to choose what we think about and where we place our focus.

Choose well! You usually get what you see. It’s all a matter of perspective.

At Confidence Coach we offer business owners a place to reconnect and rebuild their confidence; which leads to their better future in the days and years ahead. Reach out today and schedule a free call if you’d like to talk. We are here to help and encourage you.

The Circle of Encouragement is something I have written about in previous blogs, but I wanted to share a special one that you can do right now for your Mom for Mother’s Day. We actually did this with my 87 year old mother last weekend with my siblings.

Since we are all being encouraged to stay home and use social distancing, many of us have not been able to visit those older family members whom we love the most. If you are not able to be with your mom (or even if you are) this is something you can do with her using the convenience of modern technology and she will be blessed by it.

My three siblings, my wife and myself all got on a Zoom call with my Mom last Saturday night. We went around one by one (starting with the oldest to youngest) and shared words of encouragement and gratefulness for all the things Mom has done for us over the years and how much she is loved. She was truly overcome with emotion because many of us said things that we had thought over the years but the words had never been said.

May you have a wonderful Mother’s Day. Share the love!

Many people define themselves by external circumstances. When these abruptly or unexpectedly change, they don’t know who they are, so they keep trying to be who they used to be.

From now on, take your cues from the inside — from your dreams, ideals, values, and operating principles.

These need never change, regardless of the circumstances.

Take advantage of external confusion to become self-directed, self-managed, and self-motivated.

But in all that’s going on, be sure and don’t become so self-absorbed and self-focused that you forget about others. We are all in this together. Reach out and help others whether it be through a phone call, pay for someone’s coffee in the car behind you, grocery shop for the elderly who are shut in and scared, or any number of things. Be the best person you can be by giving to others.

At Confidence Coach we offer business owners a place to reconnect and rebuild their confidence; which leads to their better future in the days and years ahead. Reach out today and schedule a free call if you’d like to talk. Let us help you make progress.

In uncertain times like these, people are frightened about the viability of their product or service, like the things they sell and the jobs they hold. A more strategic response here is to disregard your own “commodity” and focus on deepening the power and possibility of all your relationships — with family, friends, team members, suppliers, clients, customers, and prospects. Every time you strengthen a relationship, the viability of your product or service will increase. One day we will get back to business as usual.

As Americans, we are resilient and creative people. We will get through this. We are all having to adapt and change how we would normally do life and work. The important thing is to keep in touch and improve on your relationships at this time. Many people are feeling isolated. A kind word of encouragement or just listening will go a long way in sustaining and building your relationships. People are what really matter.

At Confidence Coach we offer business owners a place to reconnect and rebuild their confidence; which leads to their better future in the days and years ahead. Reach out today and schedule a call if you’d like to talk.

In these challenging times, as we are using social distancing and/or being quarantined in our homes, there are a lot of people feeling very isolated and helpless. Maybe that person who’s feeling this way is you.

My solution for that is I’d like to suggest that you take your eyes off yourself and serve others.

The best strategy is to go in the opposite direction of your isolation. Expand your connection with others and focus on helping them transform their negatives into positives.

Do this by reaching out through a phone call, text message, Facetime or even a zoom call.

When you do this, it’s really a win-win. The person you are reaching out to will feel better and you will feel better too. When we focus on someone else, it helps us worry less about ourselves and our situation.

Be a source of encouragement and confidence for others and it will improve your own mindset.

We are offering complimentary 60-minute coaching calls if you need some encouragement today too.

Do you want to know the secret to getting that extra effort from your employees?

How do you get them to go the extra mile and consistently improve their performance?

Well, the answer might surprise you. It’s really not up to them.

It’s up to you!

I challenge you to take a walk around your business; really take a look at how your employees are working and what they’re doing.

Here’s the catch though.

Go around with your focus being these three things:

  • Look for what they’re doing right.
  • Look for what they are doing well.
  • Acknowledge them for the great job they are doing.

For example, tell them that you really appreciated the way they handled a difficult customer situation or maybe the quick way they processed an order; maybe it’s the way that they have kept their work area clean. The possibilities are endless. Look for the good stuff and then let them know that you see what they are doing and how well they are doing it.

Be Positive

It’s important to focus on the positive of what they’re doing right, well and good.

Now this can be really challenging because for the most part, we tend to focus on the negative. We are looking for what needs to be improved; what the problems are. We want to point out all the things that went wrong; and we’re trying to figure out how to fix them.

But what I’m asking you to do over the next week is to every day get up from your desk and get away from your office.

Acknowledge Them

Get out there where your people are. Acknowledge and look for the things that they’re doing right. Then, verbalize those things to them right then and there. Don’t just think it in your own mind. Actually tell them and acknowledge them. Focus on what they’re doing well, what they’re doing right, and how great a job they are doing.

You’ll be surprised how this changes the dynamic of your team and your employees. Suggest to your managers that they do this too. Create a culture of positivity and encouragement in your organization. Have everybody in your company do this by setting the example.

Looking for the positive is something that we have to train ourselves to do.

At Confidence Coach we have ideas, processes and thoughts that help you get the greatest return out of your biggest investment (which is your employees — they are your “first” customer).

If you’d like to talk about coaching or learn about different programs that we have, please schedule a free consultation. You can also subscribe to our YouTube channel or to our blog by clicking on these links.

Today I want talk about and thank all the people that have told you and me over and over that we can’t do this; that we can’t be successful in our business; that we’ll never make it.

Hopefully you’ve kept a list or have a memory of who those people are.

Quite frankly, I find them inspiring!

When I start to get fatigued or it gets hard or it seems to be taking longer than I think it should for the results that I want to get, I always think back to those people.

I always try to recall their words and the sentiment of them saying this is impossible, you’ll never be able to be anything or do anything or build a business or have success in your life.

And I live off the energy of those people.

I don’t have a lot of them in my life anymore.

I wish I did, but I know you do, so I want you to go back and think about them. Let their disbelief inspire you to dream bigger, to work harder, to put more into yourself, into your business to win bigger in the future. Then let us know about it.

Yes, I say thank you to those people! It’s exciting to see the amount of motivation that they can give us in our life.

Make it a great day.

Today the question I want to ask you is do you consider yourself an underdog?

Do you consider yourself an underdog because somebody else has labeled you this?

Or, have you labeled yourself as an underdog — as somebody that could never do anything; that could never be a success, could never win, could never have a big life?

If you have, use being called an underdog to inspire and energize yourself!!

Everybody roots for the underdog because we want him to come out on top. Be that overcomer, that achiever — learn and win!

I’ve been an underdog since first grade — so basically my whole life since I’m 59 now! I have learned to use this as motivation to overcome. You can do this too. Instead of being down, look up and keep going.

Learn from this experience of being an underdog and never give up.

Use it as motivation to overcome, to learn and then you are headed in the right direction towards Winning!

It’s all a matter of attitude and how we see ourselves.

You are valuable.

You matter.

You are important and you have things to share with the world that only you can do.

Be all that you are made to be.

So get in touch with your underdog right now. Think about those people that have said to you — “You’ll never make it.” “You’ll never be somebody.” “You’ll never be a success.” “This will never work.”

Go back and revisit those emotions of being an underdog and instead of feeling down, let yourself get energized by this. Then turn that energy into actions that will create winning and success for you — both personally and professionally.

If you need some encouragement on how to overcome being an underdog reach out and schedule a free consultation or send me an email and we can set up a time to talk. I’d love to help you in this area.

The Circle of Encouragement is one of the things that we’ve been doing with clients when we work with them during The Dream Employee process. This is something you might want to do after a long strategy meeting, a coaching session, or a team meeting that you have on a regular basis. This will end a meeting on a different note and in a different way. We talked earlier about starting a meeting with wins (things that people are excited about), so now we want to give you a new strategy of how to end a meeting. This may be a real stretch for you, but it is going to create great culture, great collaboration, and unity within your company in a profound way.

This is something I learned taking teams all over the world – to Africa, India, Haiti on mission trips. I would gather the team at the end of every day, and we’d get in a circle. One at a time, we would turn to the person next to us and speak 30 or 60 seconds of encouragement to the person sitting beside us. We’d go around the circle one way and then go back the other way, so everybody got to be a receiver and a giver of encouragement. After doing this with about 30 different teams that I’ve taken out in the last 10 years, I’ve adapted it to business. We are now doing this with our people we are coaching, with their employees and employers at the end of the meeting or training session. We call this process the Circle of Encouragement.

Basically, it’s a very simple idea to do in your company. One person starts out and they turn to the person next to them and for 30 seconds they say all the things that they appreciate about that person in the work that they do within the company. Then that person turns to the person next to them and does the same. This process repeats itself and goes all the way around the circle. Then when you get to the beginning, it flips the other way around. Each person gets to speak and receive encouragement from the people on either side of them.

What this really does is it brings unity. It brings appreciation. It brings respect. It creates a culture where positive things are verbalized and people get to hear about the things that they’re doing well. This creates unity within the team. It also helps other people in the circle that maybe don’t work closely together get to know each other better and understand what each person really brings to the team. It’s a great value.

We like to do this to end a meeting instead of ending a meeting with “I’m overwhelmed because I’ve got 15 new things I’ve got to do”, or “I didn’t understand that”, or “that meeting didn’t go well”. The meeting begins with wins and ends well with encouragement. This is how you create a culture that is unstoppable. A culture that goes beyond just doing a job, but actually really doing a job with a group of people and a team that is all about seeing the best in one another.

We call this a Circle of Encouragement. We’re way out on the frontier of employee engagement and creating culture with some profound, but very simple things that we teach and help our leaders put into place in their business so that they can get the maximum result from each team member. Everybody in this day and age needs encouragement! And so we actually put it in the meeting agenda. We teach it; we do it with people. It’s uncomfortable at first. But when you see the result — people start receiving that encouragement — you see your whole culture just be transformed.

Here at Confidence Coach, that’s what we’re about – transforming cultures, making a working place for employees and for owners to be awesome. In order to be awesome, people have to feel encouraged and to feel like they’re winning. And this has to be done on a regular basis. This has to be something we do all the time.

Share this with people that could benefit from this. Let us know if you’d like to know how to do this, and we’d be glad to come in and show you how to do this either virtually or in person. Subscribe to our YouTube channel. Check us out on confidencecoach.org. There is a free 60 minute catalytic conversation if you’d like to talk about this area of employee engagement, employee retention, or how to improve the culture of your company. We’re passionate about it. We do this every day. We love what we do and we’d love to help you!

I just wanted to talk about how you can, in just one moment, get extra effort from your employees. You can get them to go the extra mile and consistently improve their performance.

You want to know the secret? It’s really not up to them. It’s up to you!

I challenge you to go around your business and see where your employees are working and what they’re doing. Go around with one focus and that is to look for what they’re doing right, what they’re doing well, and then acknowledge it. For example, tell them that you really appreciated the way they handled that customer situation or the way they processed an order, or maybe the way that they have kept their work area clean — or whatever it may be. You get the idea.

But the challenge that I’m throwing out to you today is to walk around your business and look at every employee and try to find the good things that they’re doing. Then the second step is to acknowledge it, to verbalize it such as, “Hey, I see what you’re doing here!”

It’s great and important to focus on what they’re doing right, well and good. Now this can be really challenging because for most of us, what we’re seeing all the time is what they’re not doing, what they’re doing wrong, the problems they have, and all those kind of things. But what I’m asking you to do over the next week is to every day get up from your desk and get away from your office. Go to where your employees are and acknowledge and look for the things that they’re doing right. Then, verbalize those right things to them. Don’t just think it in your own mind. Actually tell them and acknowledge them. Focus on what they’re doing well, what they’re doing right, and how great a job they are doing. You’ll be surprised how this changes the dynamic of your team and your employees. Have everybody in your organization do this as well!

Looking for the positive is something that we have to train our minds to do. But what we do here at Confidence Coach is we give you ideas, we give you processes and thoughts that help you get the greatest return out of your biggest investment (which is your employees — they are your “first” customer). Think about this and see how you can get the results that you want from your team.

If this is helpful, let us know. If you’d like to talk about coaching and hear about different programs and ideas that we have, please reach out to us and schedule a free catalytic conversation. You can also subscribe to our YouTube channel or to our blog.
